In biological air purification plants, the cleansing of volatile organic compounds and even some inorganic compounds from waste air streams is achieved by microorganisms. The bacteria commonly use the substances in the air as an energy and carbon source and convert them into non harmful or odourless molecules. In comparison to other air purification processes, biological treatment is a very environmentally friendly and cost-effective alternative.

On the following pages you will learn more about the basic principles and the different techniques of gas purification.
